OK, admittedly I am not a Hard Rock guy. Just my preference (or non preference if you will) but when I first heard Anchor I was captivated. Granted, Anchor is a song that more closely straddles the pop/rock genre but it has more than enough "bite" to cause damage to the steering wheel. I'd be all in if more of Skillet's songs were dialed back from a hard rock 10 to a more reticent 7 like Anchor but for now I'll simply enjoy this release and tune on for what's next.
This album is amazing! Whether you’re looking for an upbeat song before a shift at work, or a song to help you through a rough day; this album has it. Each song matters in their own way. For just a few minutes per song, they are inspirational to those who listen. To the band, thanks for keeping up the greatest you are born with!! Cannot wait for the next album!
One, I think Skillet has done an awesome job on this, and actually all of their albums. If you haven’t yet, I would highly suggest you buy this album... and all their others😊 Two, in response to some other reviewers who ask, ok Skillet, “what are we rising up against?” “Why are you always saying to take a stand, to fight?”... maybe this will help answer your question, and is the reason why, in my opinion, that Skillet is doing an amazing job. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,” Ephesians 6:10-18
Thank you Skillet for the wonderful music. If I could download your music to my soul I would 😊. I suffer from depression but every time I’m feeling depressed I will listen to your music and it instantly makes me feel great again so once again thank you so so much.
You don’t disappoint. I love Christian music and I live hard rock, wonderful mix. Ignore the naysayers and bad comments, continue on your path. Listen to your heart!! I love love your music ❤️
Between Victorious and Unleashed I like a few songs, but, as most fans would agree, Skillet’s best work is from the Collide to Rise era. My favorite is Back to Life, it actually sounds a lot like their Collide music. 3.5 stars between the two.

I love the song Anchor by Skillet because it says “you are my anchor...” and when I am feeling blue I just listen to the song and that sentence really shows me that God is holding me up and will never let go!
Looking at these negative reviews, they are staying on the same subject of “these are generic, general, pump up songs”. I hope everyone realizes that Skillet is a Christian rock band. They keep songs in the neutral territory so more people can relate to their music. If they went to 100% worship songs, a lot of people would complain about that. These songs help a lot of people, regardless of their faith and beliefs. That is what Christianity is about. Skillet, you guys and gals do an amazing job and I think I understand why you guys do what you do. I hope others can start to realize that as well. Your songs really do help people. Anchor really spoke to me and I have been jamming out to that a lot recently. Keep on rocking and God Bless all of you!! And to the haters, we love you just the same!
Anyone who says these guys are Christian most definitely have no idea what true Christianity is, true Christians wouldn’t teach others to act rebellious against god, true Christians wouldn’t think that they’re better than others or teach other people to think that they’re better than other people and true Christians aren’t bigots and doesn’t teach others to be bigots so there for all these guys are full of bigotry and hatred and I want nothing to do with people who think otherwise
I only found out about Skillet probably about four-six years ago. First song ever, Whispers in the Dark and loved it! And from there on, I checked out other songs and soon had an entire list. And til today, I have lived every song they have dished out! I WISH I had friends who love Skillet the way I do! I’d love to see them live!!! This newest album, I listened to it for the first time just yesterday and right away every song sparked my interest and I already live the album!!!! And I am already planning on buying it!!! Woot-woot!!! Keep the music coming!!!!!
This album has slowly became my favorite album yet. When I first began listening to the album I only liked 3/4 songs. I had the same thoughts as a few of the reviews “it sounds generic”. Honestly I was wrong and very wrong I was. The lyrics are amazing and live up the the Skillet expectations. The songs with strings in them live up to all the ones in the past. Plus Skillet knocked it out of the park with Victorious and Finish line. I have loved skillet since the Collide album. This album is something new while mixing in every album since then. Skillet has always been evolving and trying new sounds with their music. This album rocks hard while also having a new vibe to it on a couple of tracks. I truly believe if you buy this album and give it a fair chance it will bypass expectations. Skillet released another amazing album lead by faith, hard rock, and a little innovation.
My mom and I have always loved Skillet and they are a band I don’t think we will ever get tired of having jam sessions to. I don’t understand these negative comments, nobody is forcing y’all to continue listening to Skillet, so just move on in silence. Every band has a style and a message, until they feel led to change, let them be them. Period.
I was never a big Skillet fan as a kid. Now, older, looking for music to build the library for workouts or a long run and this’ll do just fine. Generic? Yeah I kinda see that point, but again for my purpose can’t complain.
